The vision for Living Arts Ministries The foundational doctrines of LAM. Testimonies from Doug and Caroline Gregan
Technical Information

This page is provided for those folks out there who care about what people use to make their Web site. I also thought I’d include what equipment the band uses, again for those few (and I mean few...) individuals who are interested in that sort of thing. So...here it is.

Webmaster Information OS X Icon

First, and foremost, this Web site is created using a Mac. I have used the Mac for over 15 years and will always sing it’s praises. I don’t care that 98% of the world is on a PC, as for me and my house, we will use a Macintosh!

The LAM Web site is hand-coded for two reasons: 1) It’s what I know how to do. 2) It meets a bizarre need I have to do some programming. Plus, it forces me to keep learning new stuff, the emphasis on the force.

The following is a list of software packages that I use to work on the site. They are pretty much standard fare.

  1. Adobe Photoshop and ImageReady - Used for all the graphics and image handling code.
  2. Adobe Illustrator - Used to create and modify vector elements that I brought into Photoshop.
  3. BBEdit - My text editor of choice. I’ve tried many other editors and keep coming back to this one.
  4. Transmit X - For handling all my FTP work.
  5. phpMyAdmin - This is such a great tool to manage mySQL data. It has been very useful and educational.
  6. Web Sites - The list of Web sites I used to get code from is far too long to mention here. However, I am adding them constantly to our Links page, so please go there and choose the WEBMASTER Category.

Musical Information

I am the kind of person who likes to know what people are using for their instruments. If you are not that kind of person then I pray that the rest of the site is a blessing to you. Here is our information:

  1. Steve Bolton - Plays has a DW kit with a Gibraltar rack and a Roland V-Custom TD-8; Zildian and Sabian Cymbals; Vic Firth 5A and Jack DeJohnette, Hot Rods, and Blastick sticks;
  2. Lamont Green - Assorted vintage equipment.
  3. Doug Gregan - Uses a Yamaha S90 synth with a Roland KC500 amp. Tenor Sax is a Yamaha YTS-62 and the Soprano is a Yanagisawa, unknown model. Any reed that’s not broken will work.
  4. Albert Lamar - Plays a Gemeinhardt flute, unknown Piccolo and Alto Flute and a Yamaha YTS-52 Soprano Sax.
  5. Recording Equipment - To make the recordings we are, and will be, using for some time, we ran the stereo out from an 8-channel mixer, direct-to-disk to a Titanium Powerbook. Sound recording and editing was done on a Mac using BIAS Peak v3.2.1.

Each of us recognizes that all the items mentioned on this page are nothing more than tools. They profit nothing and have no glory in and of themselves. We have dedicated these things to the Lord, to bring honor and glory to the name of Jesus. For me personally, God has provided my instruments in a special way and my heart overflows with gratitude for His gracious gifts that have allowed me to minister His grace to others.

If you are a musician or singer, I pray the Lord would provide those tools that you might need. I pray that God would anoint your music and ministry with His grace and power. We count it a privilege to minister music alongside so many others called to do the same around the world. May we never become dull to the honor and blessedness of ministering in music. May the Lord keep us unspotted from the world, sanctified for His use and increasingly more saturated with the Love He has for His Body and the lost. Spend time with Him and know His heart.

God bless you!
